Things to Do in Healdsburg
Fire up the grill, grab a blanket for the Plaza, and follow the river to the beach. July is Healdsburg at its small-town best: a flag-waving Fourth on the square, free summer concerts under the oaks, farmers markets in a brand-new pavilion, and golden evenings out in the vineyards. Here is your friendly, fact-checked guide to the month.
All Summer Long
Healdsburg Museum: “Many Paths to Healdsburg”
Step inside the town’s 1911 Carnegie library for free, rotating exhibits on local history. The current show, on view through mid-August, traces the many communities who built Healdsburg, shown alongside the permanent collection on the area’s Indigenous people and its prune, hops and wine-grape roots.
Museum & hours ★Swimming at Veterans Memorial Beach
From July through Labor Day, Sonoma County Regional Parks raises its seasonal dam on the Russian River to create a calm, lifeguarded swimming area just below the historic Memorial Bridge. Expect a sandy beach, shady lawns, picnic spots and free loaner life vests. Admission is free; parking is a small fee, or free for Regional Parks members. Regional Parks and Healdsburg Sunrise Rotary also host the beloved Healdsburg Water Carnival here each July, so check the parks website for this year’s date.
Beach info ★Summer Reading Challenge
The Sonoma County Library’s all-ages Summer Reading Challenge runs through the season at the Healdsburg branch. Read, log your minutes, and pick up prizes at any library location through the end of August. Stop by to sign up, grab a good book, and beat the afternoon heat. The branch is open daily, with later evening hours on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Summer Reading ★St. John the Baptist Catholic Church
A welcoming, historic parish in the heart of downtown, open to visitors and locals alike. Weekend Mass is offered Saturday at 4:30 PM and Sunday at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM in English, with a 12:00 PM Spanish Mass; weekday Mass is held Monday through Friday at 9:00 AM. A quiet, beautiful stop on a busy summer day.
Service times ★Every Week in July
Saturday Farmers Market
One of California’s oldest certified farmers markets now has a permanent home in the new downtown pavilion. Saturday mornings bring local produce, flowers, cheeses, baked goods, prepared foods, crafts and live music. North Street closes between City Hall and Little Saint on market days, so there is plenty of room to roam.
Market details ★Tuesday Farmers Market
The midweek market runs Tuesdays through September at the same downtown pavilion. It is a great spot to do your weekly shopping straight from local growers, sample cooking demos, and pick up something fresh for dinner. CalFresh and Market Match are accepted.
Market details ★Sundays in the Plaza
A mellow alternative to the big Tuesday party. Each Sunday afternoon brings a different local band or performer to the Plaza for a couple of relaxing hours. Pack a picnic, find a shady patch of lawn, and unwind. Please note alcohol is not permitted at the Sunday concerts. Check the city’s page for the weekly performer lineup.
Concert series ★Tuesdays in the Plaza
The city’s flagship summer concert series turns downtown into a weekly dance party, with an eclectic, rotating lineup of bands. Food vendors set up around 5 PM, music starts at 6 PM, and there are kids’ activities plus a complimentary bike valet. The July 28 show features Playing the Dead, a Grateful Dead tribute. See the city’s page for each week’s band.
Concert series ★Tacos Y Vino Thursdays at Arandas
A tasty midweek tradition: every Thursday, Arandas pours all-day deals on tacos and wine, with four-dollar tacos (California, al pastor, chicken tinga and calabaza) and seven-dollar glasses from a rotating red, white and sparkling list. Come whenever is clever. Check their page to confirm the current week.

July, Day by Day

Browse the boutiques along the way and discover a few surprises.
Gallery map ★Grayson Jenkins at Little Saint

Tickets & schedule ★Fourth of July Kids’ Parade & Duck Dash
The heart of Healdsburg’s Fourth beats on the Plaza. Hosted by the Rotary Club of Healdsburg Sunrise and the City of Healdsburg, the morning starts with sign-ups around 10 AM and the Kids’ Parade stepping off at 11 AM for a loop around the square. Deck the kids out in red, white and blue and roll in on decorated bikes, trikes and wagons. Expect lawn games, face painting, live music, and the famous Duck Dash, where you can adopt a rubber duck and cheer it to the splash zone. Streets around the Plaza close to traffic for the celebration, so come early and plan to walk.
Parade details ★Independence Day Fireworks
After dark, look to the sky above Healdsburg High School for the city’s big fireworks finale, presented by American Legion Post 111 with the City of Healdsburg and the Tourism Improvement District. The shells climb 200 feet and higher, so any spot with a clear view of the sky over the high school works well. University Avenue and several nearby streets close to traffic in the evening to make room for spectators, and personal fireworks are not permitted.
Fireworks info ★Healdsburg City Council Meeting
Want to see local democracy up close? The City Council meets on the first and third Mondays of the month at 6 PM, so July’s regular meetings fall on Monday the 6th and Monday the 20th. Agendas are posted ahead of time, and the public is welcome to attend and comment. Holiday-week schedules can shift, so check the agenda before you head over.
Agendas & council ★Healdsburg Book Club
The library’s monthly book club meets on the first Tuesday at noon. July’s pick is The Measure by Nikki Erlick, a thought-provoking novel about choice and fate. Print copies are available at the branch ahead of the discussion, and newcomers are always welcome.
Library events ★Cassandra Lewis at Little Saint
Singer-songwriter Cassandra Lewis brings her roots-and-soul sound to Little Saint’s intimate upstairs room. Pair it with dinner downstairs for a full Healdsburg night out. Confirm set times and tickets with the venue.
Tickets & schedule ★Summer Sundowner at Lambert Bridge
